Lucid Dreams Creatives' first collaborative concept and creative development project is now available on global streaming platform Netflix, after its cinematic release earlier in 2024 through Viva Films. Dearly Beloved began as a concept pitch we presented to Viva Films' executive heads. We were initially given a challenge to come up with a modern take on the film classic "Relasyon" which starred Vilma Santos and Christopher De Leon back in the 80's. We zeroed in not on the topic of infidelity but a bigger issue that is unique to the Philippines: the lack of divorce in the country. It's a well known fact that the Philippines, apart from the Vatican, remains as the only country in the world that does not allow divorce, although annulment can be a legal path, it still offers complexities that a lot of real-life couple opt not to take- hence the central issue that the leads of Dearly Beloved's characters had to face, coupled with their own set of individual struggles. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to work with great local talents such as Baron Geisler and Cristine Reyes that breathe life to our characters with such sensitivity and grace.
